How we work

Four stages, and you know what happens at each one.

Letting builders into your home is a large act of trust, and most of the anxiety comes from not knowing what happens next. So here is exactly how a Williams Interiors project runs — from the first site visit through planning and a written quote to a snagged, cleaned handover.

01

A site visit and a straight answer

We come out, look at the property properly and talk through what you are picturing — what is realistic, what it will involve and what the sensible order of work is. If a job is not right for us, or you would be better spending the money elsewhere, we will say so at that visit rather than after you have committed.

What you get at this stage

An honest view of what the job involves, what it will cost roughly and whether it is worth doing at all — given at the visit, not a week later.

02

Planning, drawings and approvals

Extensions, loft conversions and structural work need more than a price. We help you work out whether the job falls under permitted development or needs a planning application, what building control will want to see, and where a structural engineer or party wall notice comes into it — so nothing stalls once the scaffold is up.

What you get at this stage

A clear answer on permitted development versus a planning application, what building control will want, and whether a structural engineer or party wall notice is needed.

03

A written quote, then the build

You get the scope in writing before anything starts, broken down so you can see what is included. Then the trades run in the right order — groundworks, structure, first fix, plaster, second fix, decoration — with one person coordinating them and one person you call if something needs sorting.

What you get at this stage

A written scope and price before anything starts, plus the order the trades will run in and a realistic view of how long each stage takes.

04

Snagged, cleaned and handed back

We walk the job with you at the end, list anything that needs putting right, and put it right before we call it finished. The site gets cleared and cleaned. Most of our work comes back round — a kitchen this year, the loft the next — so leaving a job properly finished matters more to us than moving on quickly.

What you get at this stage

A walk-round with your own snagging list, everything on it put right, and the site cleared and cleaned before we call the job finished.

The stage most people never see — the sequencing that keeps a build from stalling

Before stage one

If your project is an extension or a loft conversion, start with the planning guide.

Permitted development, planning applications, building control, structural calculations and party wall notices — set out in order, with the lead times attached, so you can see what has to happen before anyone picks up a shovel.
